Friends of the Wayne Public Library (FOTWL) Mission Statement, Friends of the Wayne Public Library Proposed Mission Statement: "The mission of the Friends of the Wayne Public Library is to serve the needs of the Wayne Library. To help with any 'extra' items the library might want or need, and to help with any activities the library might not be staffed for. Special interest is placed on the children's area of the library. These goals will all be met in a friendly atmosphere where creativity and individuality are encouraged". The Friends of the Wayne Public Library wants you!! HISTORY: The FOTWL was founded in October of 1997. The FOTWL has been actively providing the Wayne Public Library with special items. Some of the things the "Friends" group has provided the library are: children's computer, bean bag chairs, barnyard decorations, electronic sign, listening station for children, display shelf and volunteered service hours to help move books and shelves, take care of the barnyard animals, prepare books for booksale, bake cookies for story time and folding the newsletter. PURPOSE OF THE FOTWL: To promote the interests and welfare of the Wayne Public Library, focus attention on library services and needs, influence gifts of library materials and endowments and perform volunteer services for special library "Friends" projects. GOALS OF THIS MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: To increase membership of the FOTWL by bringing together a group of young and old alike who appreciate the educational contributions that the Wayne Public Library provides to the Wayne area and who want to maintain and support and supplement the library's contribution to our community.
